Note | Pievetorina Folk Museum is a demo-ethno-anthropological museum with 14 sections distributed over an area of 750 square metres housed in the rooms of a former 17th century Convent of Sant’Agostino. The museum testifies to the agricultural and pastoral culture of the Sibillini, the tools utilized in everyday life and the hard work in the fields and mountains. The tour starts from the granary, the cellar and the cooper’s shop. Then there follow the rooms of a country house : the kitchen, the bedroom, the bathroom, the room with children’s games and the school-room. Next come areas dedicated to large farm implements and to the shoemaker’s shop. There are many tools showing the work of the wheelwright, porkbutcher, joiner, blacksmith, charcoal burner and saddler. Just a few kilometres away from the museum is the eighteenth century mill of Fiume, with all its original structures and its glimpses into the miller’s life and job. There is also a small lake, a weir and waterfalls that are still working. |
